The biggest action film of the year is here. After missing its initial release date on August 15, Saaho has finally arrived this Friday to leave us in awe with its spectacular action sequences and impressive scale. Not to mention, Saaho is Telugu superstar Prabhas' first film since his all-time Blockbuster Baahubali 2 two years ago. Directed by Sujeeth, Saaho also marks the debut of Shraddha Kapoor in South. The movie, made on a budget of Rs 300 crore, also features a huge supporting cast filled with popular actors from South and Bollywood. We are watching Saaho right now and here's what we have to say about the first half of the film.
"There are quite a lot of villains in Saaho and just one hero to take them all. In the beginning, the kingpin of a criminal conglomerate is killer and then his men and associates figure out who is behind it. In Mumbai, the police are trying to figure out who is responsible for a series of heists. Enter an undercover cop, played by Prabhas, and his new partner, a pretty Malayali officer, played by Shraddha Kapoor, who try to figure out who is the real deal here. Yes, a romance is born but things are not really what it looks like, as cops and the criminals chase after a 'black box'.
The first half introduces us the many characters of the film, and has its moments. There are a couple of twists too, and the interval twist may surprise you. But the screenplay isn't very convincing. The action scenes are less in the first half, though there is a car chase scene near the interval that is somewhat thrilling. The Prabhas-Shraddha Kapoor romance also feels half-baked, more so because it falls on a predictable pattern and that the female lead character isn't well-written. A couple of songs add a hindrance to the narrative. But you have to give it to the makers to create a visually appealing palette for the film."
