Vijaya Nirmala, the famous director-producer of Telugu cinemas, passed away on Wednesday (June 26) at the age of 73. According to reports Vijaya Nirmala was unwell since quite some time and suffered from cardiac arrest. As per a report in News18.com, she was admitted to Continental Hospital in Gachibowli in Hyderabad. The news of her demise has left many industry members and others in a state of shock. Jr NTR, Kajal Aggarwal, Rana Daggubati and many others took to Twitter to express deep condolences on the veteran’s demise. Before turning into director and producer, Vijaya Nirmala started her career in acting. Besides Telugu, Vijaya Nirmala has also acted in numerous Tamil and Malayalam films. She has helmed 44 films in Telugu and has also been honoured for her contribution in the world of cinema. It was in 2002 when Vijaya Nirmala entered the Guinness Book of Records as the female director of maximum films. The Twitter page of Telangana CMO shared a post that read, “Hon'ble Chief Minister Sri K. Chandrashekar Rao has expressed deep condolences on the demise of famous Cine Director and Producer Smt. Vijaya Nirmala. CM conveyed his condolences to the members of the bereaved family. He remembered her services in Telugu Cine field.”

Talking about her personal life, Vijaya Nirmala was first married to Krishna Murthy from whom she has a son, Naresh, who is also an actor and is also into politics. After parting ways from her first husband, she tied the knot with actor Krishna, father of Maharshi actor Mahesh Babu.
