Rangasthalam Song Jigelu Rani Promo: Ram Charan and Pooja Hegde's Electrifying Moves Uplift An Otherwise Mediocre Item Song

Rangasthalam will release on March 30.

Ram Charan celebrates his 33rd birthday today. So on this special occasion the makers of his upcoming movie, Rangasthalam have released the song promo of the much hyped item song, Jigelu Rani, featuring Pooja Hegde along with the birthday boy. Pooja Hegde, who was seen earlier as Hrithik Roshan and Allu Arjun's leading lady in Mohenjo Daro and Duvvada Jagannadham respectively, will be putting up a special appearance in Rangasthalam. Samantha Akkineni is the female lead.

Jigelu Rani is composed by popular music director Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) and is sung by Rela Kumar and Ganta Venkata Lakshmi. While the song aims to be appease the front-benchers (as does every item song ever picturised), this is certainly not DSP's best effort. Also the female voice doesn't really suit Pooja Hegde.

Speaking of the picturisation of Jigelu Rani, it is a typical item song where an actress in skimpy clothes is ogled by the hero and other men in a rural setup. What saves the song is the energetic dance movies of Ram Charan and Pooja Hegde.

Talking more about Rangasthalam, the movie has Ram Charan play a hearing impaired villager called Chitti Babu. Rangasthalam is set in the '80s and also stars Aadhi Pinisetty, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu and Anasuya. The movie is directed by Sukumar, while the cinematography is handled by R. Rathnavelu.

Recently in an interview to FirstPost, Rathnavelu has this to say about Ram Charan's performance in the movie, "Ram Charan is a one-take artist and spontaneous performer. He can give amazing output in his first and second take but he can’t repeat the same in consecutive takes. Gautham Menon also prefers to complete scenes in one or two takes. Jyothika is another one-take performer but actors like Suriya can improve in each take and give new expression every time.”

Rangasthalam will release on March 30.
