Ranam Trailer: Prithviraj Sukumaran Takes on American Drug Mafia in This Stylish Action Thriller
Ranam, also going by the title Detroit Crossing, is all set to release on September 6.
Prithviraj Sukumaran is going the Taken way! But instead of European human traffickers, the handsome Malayalam star is going to take down drug traffickers in the USA. After playing a US-based homicide detective in Shyamaprasad's Ivide, he is now returning to the country this time to fight gangs in Ranam. Interestingly, the movie marks the directorial debut of Nirmal Sachdev who previously had co-written Hey Jude that was helmed by Shyamaprasad. Ranam also marks the reunion of Prithviraj with Rahman after the suspenseful Mumbai Police.
The first proper trailer of Ranam has landed and it is quite thrilling. The trailer promises a lot of action, mostly courtesy the lead actor. Most of the stars are presented in a stylish manner, albeit without the needless slo-mo shots. However, the gang wars is not the only theme that Ranam will tackle -it will also discuss the lives of American Indians in the country. Apart from Prithviraj and Rahman, the movie also stars Shyamaprasad, Isha Talwar, Nandulal and Ashwin Kumar.

In a social media post, director Nirmal Sahadev had this to say about the film and its hero - “People keep telling us it is completely new and fresh, and asking us how we attempted something of that nature? To everyone, the answer is having a supremely creative and supportive team, and a star like Prithviraj Sukumaran on your side offering the space to do exactly what is right for the film. As a writer/director, I have felt fortunate to have this sort of support from day one, being there as actor, friend and mentor. As we continue with post production, the entire team feels the same vibe. Prithviraj has been an early supporter of Jakes Bejoy and it was always Jakes’ dream to compose for a Prithviraj film. Ranam is what it is today because of Prithvi’s undeterring commitment to the film and this track is the result of that encouragement. (sic)”
Ranam, also going by the title Detroit Crossing, is all set to release on September 6.
