Rakul Preet is widely known in the Telugu and Tamil film industry. She has also appeared in Hindi and Kannada films. Her recently released film Dev starring actor Karthi in the lead, received average response. There were reports stating the actress has been roped in to play the lead role in the Telugu film Venky Mama directed by K. S. Ravindra. The film stars Naga Chaitanya and Venkatesh Daggubati as well in the lead. However, the latest report suggests that the 28-year-old actress has apparently quit this project for Akkineni Nagarjuna starrer Manmadhudu 2. It is a sequel to the 2002 film Manmadhudu. According to a report in TOI, the shooting of Venky Mama kick-started yesterday (February 21). While Venkatesh Daggubati has started shooting for the film, Naga Chaitanya who was busy shooting for Majili is expected to join soon. Other than Rakul Preet, actress Payal Rajput was roped in to play the lead role. Since the former backed out, the makers of Venky Mama have reportedly finalised Kannada actress Nabha Natesh in the lead. The official announcement is yet to be made. Meanwhile, Rakul Preet will also be seen in the Hindi film Marjaavaan. It is an action thriller featuring Siddharth Malhotra, Ritesh Deshmukh and Tara Sutaria. The film directed by Milap Zaveri is scheduled to release on October 2. Stay tuned for further updates.
