Pongal next year is going to be one rollicking affair for fans of Tamil cinema. Two potential blockbusters are releasing during the festive period, and both of them star superstars with a massive fan following. Thalaiva Rajinikanth and Thala Ajith are having their upcoming movies clashing during this period and we are pretty much excited for this. Let's talk about Ajith's film first, since it was Viswasam that announced its intention to release on Pongal first. Also starring Nayanthara, Viswasan has Ajith in dual roles. The movie is directed by Siva, who has given three blockbuster hits to Ajith in Veeram, Vedalam and Vivegam. Can their combo make for a fourth hit? Then there is Petta, Rajinikanth's next after the much-hyped 2.0. For the first time, Thalaiva is directed by the talented young film-maker Karthik Subbaraj of Pizza and Jigarthanda fame. Knowing the kind of quirky films that the director is associated with, we are looking forward to seeing what kind of fare Karthik is giving Rajinikanth in the gangster thriller. Apart from these two movies, actor RJ Balaji is also releasing his directorial debut, LKG on the same date. He is also playing the lead role in the film. Not to mention, the first part of Telugu film, NTR Biopic, is also coming out during the same period.
