The first look of the upcoming film by Mani Ratnam, titled Ponniyin Selvan, has dropped on the internet. The Tamil historical drama is being touted as Manni's magnum opus. And the first look oozes no other vibe. The feel of the film is very royal and grand. And all we get to see on the poster is just the title and a sword. Imagine the impact the film will have. Madras Talkies is producing the film. Taking to Twitter the production house, proudly, wrote, "Are you ready to witness the beginning of the golden era on the big screen?" #MeToo Accused Lyricist Vairamuthu Out Of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan After Makers Face Backlash?

We like the confidence. Ponniyin Selvan stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi and Trisha in lead roles. We'd love to get the first look of the characters that these actors are playing. It is still unclear why Keethy Suresh walked out of the film, but the next project of Rajinikanth seems to be the reason.

Ravi Varman will be taking care of the cinematography. We have seen his stellar work in Jagga Jasoos, where he based his frames on classics such as West Side Story, Days of Heaven, The Sheltering Sky and Wes Anderson's films. He has said that Jagga Jasoos was his best work. We cannot wait to see what he does next with Ponniyin Selvan.

The cast and crew of the film have been in Thailand since mid-December for the first shooting schedule. The lack of social media posts is indicative of how hush the principal photography of the film will be.

In the past, Mani Ratnam has made some of the cinema-lovers' most favourite movies. There is no way the world is getting over films like Bombay, Guru, or Roja. Although, it has been quite some time since the filmmaker was at the helm of a Hindi movie. His last Hindi film was Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai starrer, Raavan, which is underrated. We hope to see Mani make another movie for the Hindi film industry soon.
