There is no doubt that no superstar in India creates that kind of euphoria that Rajinikanth does. His movies may not end being the highest grosser of all time, but the crowds he has been pulling in at the theatres and their antics are as entertaining as Thalaiva's film itself. Rajinikanth's last movie, 2.0, had him do two kinds of characters we don't usually associate Thalaiva with. However, with his upcoming, Petta, Rajnikanth returns to the film that his fans love him - a pucca massy entertainer! Petta Trailer: Rajinikanth's Power-Packed, Thrilling Performance Has Got Us Excited for The Pongal Release - Watch Video.

Petta, however, stands out from rest of his mainstream films. For one, it is directed by Karthik Subbaraj who has a knack of making intelligent entertainers like Pizza, Jigarthanda and Iraivi. Secondly, it features a terrific supporting cast and third, this could be Rajinikanth's last movie before he completely dives into politics.

The trailer that came out today has only managed to raise our expectations from the film. Here are why five reasons why we are super-excited for Petta, thanks to its entertaining trailer. Nawazuddin Siddiqui Joins Rajinikanth, Vijay Sethupathi's Petta and Fans Are Going Crazy Over This Deadly Combo! Also, ICYMI, here's the trailer of Petta -

Rajinikanth is young and how!

Ever since the posters came out, we have been wondering how 'young' Rajinikanth is looking in Petta. The trailer further reiterates that Thalaiva is really looking good in there, looking a couple of decades younger. A huge thumbs up for the makeup and styling team here!

Trademark Rajinisms is Back, and We are Loving It!

One big issue with 2.0 is that Rajinikanth didn't have many punchlines and the ones he does mouth feel like bad puns. Not so much in the case with Petta. Every line he utters as Kaali in the trailer will make you cheer, despite yourself! And that little stunt with a revolver, well, that's the Rajinikanth antic you are paying to watch in a theatre!

A Masala Movie, With Not The Usual Masala!

Petta is a massy flick, no doubt about that, with Rajinikanth being in top form and getting to do all his trademark stuff. And yet, while it celebrates Rajinisms, the trailer makes it clear that it is not like any usual Rajinikanth film that you have been watching. The movie looks to be city-hopping while there is no mention of any political or social cause that has been a common trend in Rajinikanth movies these days.

The Enticing Supporting Cast

Never has a Rajinikanth film these days seen such a wonderful array of supporting cast. Simran and Trisha Krishnan play the female leads. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, in his Tamil debut, plays the asthmatic antagonist. Then there is Vijay Sethupathi, one of the finest actors in Tamil cinema right now. Not to mention the National award-winning actor Bobby Simha and M Sasikumar. Pongal can't come soon enough!

The Trailer Shows a Lot and Yet Not Much!

Petta trailer shows a lot of Rajinisms but did you get any hint of what the plot would be? Do you know what Sethupathi is doing in the film? Or how both Simran and Trisha's characters play into Kaali's life? The trailer has managed to keep that air of mystery around itself, and we are loving that shroud of enigma!

Petta, produced by Sun Pictures, will be releasing on January 10, 2019. So how did you find the trailer of Petta? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
