We are all set to see Rajinikanth in what is India's costliest film to date in 2.0. The sci-fi thriller, also starring Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson, is reportedly made on a budget of more than Rs 500 crore. While 2.0 will be most anticipated for the VFX and action scenes, there is another Rajinikanth movie on the anvil that is eagerly awaited for some interesting narrative. Petta is Thalaiva's first collaboration with the maverick young director Karthik Subbaraj of Pizza and Jigarthanda fame. A gangster thriller, we expect this movie to verve from similar movies that Rajinikanth has done in the past. Rajinikanth Wraps Up Shoot For Karthik Subbaraj's Petta 15 Days Ahead of Schedule.

The makers, Sun Pictures, have revealed a new poster from the film - a romantic one, featuring Rajinikanth and Simran. The picture has a Rajinikanth, looking quite youthful even in his grey hairs, and Simran walking carefree among the crowd carrying flowers. Though Simran has been in the Tamil industry since the '90s and she had been at the top of the game for many years, this is the first time they have been paired opposite each other. CONFIRMED! The poster also confirms the release date of Petta, which is scheduled to release during Pongal next year. Talking more about the film, Petta marks the Tamil debut of Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui. It also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha, M Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Megha Akash and Guru Somasundaram.
