He may be considered one of the best actors this country has seen ever. But Mammootty, who has won three National Awards for the Best Actor category, has been mostly doing masala entertainers these days, that show him as a superhero who can't do anything wrong. However, his upcoming movie, Peranbu, might change all that, though, going by the critical praise it has been garnering during its festival run. Some are even clamouring that Mammootty might get his fourth National Award for his performance in the film. And going by the first teaser of the Tamil film, we think they are on to something!

The first teaser of Peranbu has landed and it is quite an intriguing one. The teaser first shows a beautiful, tranquil place. We then see Mammootty's character looking out of his window. He then faces away and we see the left side of face twitching. Soon he begins to show signs of left-sided paralysis. But as we began to worry about what's happening to him, Mammootty returns to his normal self. He then muses about even trying this is difficult, then imagine how the person with this condition has to go through. Wonder what's that about?

Peranbu is directed by award-winning film-maker, Ram, who had previously made movies like Kattradhu Thamizh and Thanga Meengal. Peranbu also stars Anjali and Sadhana, with Yuvan Shankar Raja composing the score. The movie had its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and the Asian premiere at the Shanghai International Film Festival. This is also Mammootty's first Tamil movie after the 2010 bilingual film, Vandae Maatharam.
