Suriya Sivakumar teams up with popular filmmaker K Selvaraghavan for this week's big entertainer, NGK. A political thriller, the movie has been grabbing eye-balls on social media and among Kollywood fans for its social and political themes that reverberate with the public. NGK has two female leads in Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh, with a supporting cast of Kakka Ravi, Devaraj and others. We are watching NGK right now and here's what we have to say about the first half: Ahead of NGK Release, Suriya's Fans Erect World's Largest Cut-Out Of The South Hunk - View Pic.
"All Kumaran, played by Suriya Sivakumar, wants to do is improve the agricultural situation in his town and focus on giving organic food for the public. But good intentions don't work when bureaucracy and red tapism rule the day. As he tries to seek help through corrupt government officials, Kumaran realises the power a mere political worker holds over them. Thanks to unforeseen circumstances, Kumaran has to join the opposition party and has to work as an aide for the local MLA.
Knowing that he has to get into the sewers to clean them first, Kumaran manipulates the party members around him to increase his influence. So much that he makes an impression on High Command. But by the interval point, we are still figuring out what his endgame is.
The first half gives us an insight into the political misdemeanors happening in the country. NGK also delves into how PR machinery is instrumental in creating the most indelible impression for a political party among the public. Some scenes work, some don't. But what hold the film together is an incredible performance from Suriya, whose quick shifting of persona both enthralls and thrills."
