The year 2018 saw a large wave of #MeToo stories across the industries. Film industries were primarily affected as many prominent names were mentioned in these horrific stories of sexual harassment. Many film artists were accused of sexual misbehaviour by the women in the industry, especially on social media. The south film industry was also rocked by the movement. Recently, Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam actress Shalu Shamu revealed her #MeToo story. In her Instagram story, she wrote, "Even I have Come Across #metpp but I don't wannt complain regarding Tis coz I know to handle myself as an grown up kid:) incase if I complain wat is the use ? [sic]" She added, " "Very Recently I got an approach from a famous Director to sleep with him to get a chance in his new movie with Vijaydevarkonda !!! #STOPWHERETHEYSTART." Indeed, it is a very shocking revelation that the actress has made without giving away the names of these personalities. The movement first gathered pace when Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta accused actor, Nana Patekar of sexual misbehaviour on a film set in 2009. Later, known names like Alok Nath, Sajid Khan, Anu Malik, Rajat Kapoor, Subhash Kapoor, Utsav Chakraborty cropped up in the controversy.
