The #MeToo movement in Bollywood is not dying a slow death and singer Chinmayi is an example of the same. She had earlier accused lyricist Vairamuthu of sexual misconduct. She had revealed an incident about how the concert organiser had once asked her to cooperate and visit Vairamuthu in his hotel room. She later accused his staff of knowing all his intentions and yet extending his support to him. However, months after she accused the known face of the south film industry, she decided to seek a legal route against him. Singer Chinmayi Sripada’s Termination From Tamil Dubbing Union Proves Why #MeToo Movement Will Never Succeed in India.

She took to her Twitter account to announce that she has filed a complaint against Vairamuthu with the National Council for Women. Since Indian law has no provision for filing a case against a sexual predator, she went ahead with her move with NCW. Chinmayi wrote, "I have registered a formal complaint against Mr Vairamuthu with the National Council for Women. As of now, this is the only legal route that I have. I am looking forward to the NCW @Manekagandhibjp in helping me take this complaint to a logical conclusion. @PMOIndia (sic)". Chennai Express Singer Chinmayi Sripada Groped At An Event; Shares Details Of The Horrific Incident On Social Media.

Chinmayi also revealed the repercussions she's facing after voicing her protest against him. It's been four months since she's out of work but she has no qualms about it since it's for the right reason. "In the meanwhile, the Ban on my work in the Tamilnadu film industry continues. I had sent in a letter to Sri @VishalKOfficial several months ago. Despite his best intentions for which I am grateful, the Council apparently cannot intervene in the workings of the dubbing union. (sic)," she wrote. We do hope she is able to seek justice in her fight and industry extends its support to her in the best way possible.
