After featuring in the avatar of a police official in Unda, a black comedy, Mollywood superstar Mammootty is all set to play the role of a warrior in the upcoming flick, Mamangam. This Malayalam film is an historical drama based on the Mamankam Festival. Yes, this film is set against the Mamankam Festival which is held once every 12 years at Thirunavaya, on the banks of Bharatapuzha in Kerala. The makers of Mamangam have dropped the teaser and it highlights about this religious festival. It looks promising and visually stunning!

The opening scene talks about how one will never forget this festival after seeing it once. From the grand setup of the festival to the thousands who come to attend the festival, featuring the traditional martial art forms and the stunts of the warriors, this teaser highlights the details of the end of a 280-year-old war. This is the festival of the warriors and when this festival happens, the warriors from different parts of the country come forward and fight against each other to prove their strength. Mamangam is based on the rivalry between Chaaverukal and Zamorin rulers.

Although there’s just a brief appearance of Mammootty in this teaser, he looks fierce as a warrior. Mammukka plays the character Chaver Thalavan. Talking about this flick he had said, “It is a period film but not folklore. It is about the fight between two groups and about justice, which should be delivered,” reports PTI. Directed by M Padmakumar, this film also features Prachi Tehlan as Unnimaaya, Unni Mukundan as Chandroth Panicker and Mohan Sharma as Zamorin. Mamangam is produced by Venu Kunnappilly and will also be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages.
