Maharshi Quick Movie Review: Mahesh Babu Is His Usual Charming Self in This Vamsi Paidipally Entertainer

Telugu Superstar Mahesh Babu appears as the lead in his first film of 2019, Maharshi. The film is directed by Vamsi Paidipally and also stars Pooja Hegde, Allari Naresh, Meenakshi Dixit and Prakash Raj. Maharshi has been trending well for quite some time. Mahesh Babu, who has found his good nick back at the box office with Bharat Ane Nenu, is expected to deliver another blockbuster with Maharshi. Well, can he? "Mahesh Babu plays Rishi Kumar, who is a super successful CEO of the 'world'. A chance reunion with his former college mates and teachers take Rishi down the memory lane. We learn that he has been obsessed with the idea of winning, after seeing how his righteous father used to be insulted by moneylenders and his employer. The obsession with success rules Rishi's heart so much that he can't even hear the word 'failure' associated with it. When he gets admission in a top engineering institute, Rishi's confidence and brilliance wins over everyone around him and he gets two dear friends in Pooja and Ravi. The first half is set around Rishi's past and takes its own sweet time to get to the point. Though Mahesh Babu is his charming self, he is not very convincing as the college student, even though these portions give the superstar opportunity to let his massy persona shine. The portions involving Allari Naresh and Pooja Hegde have their moments. The first half is more about establishing Rishi's determined race to the top. With a truncated run-time, this plot-line would have been more effective, considering it is only around the interval that the plot actually, and hopefully, changes into higher gear."
