One of the most anticipated movies down South is the Telugu multi-starrer biopic, Mahanati (which is releasing in Tamil as Nadigaiyar Thilagam). Based on the life of yesteryear actress Savitri, the movie shows Telugu cinema of the '60s and the '70s in all its glory. Keerty Suresh is essaying the role of Mahanati Savitri. The movie also marks the Telugu debut of the Malayalam hunk, Dulquer Salmaan. He plays Gemini Ganesan in the movie, who was Savitri's husband in real life (also actress Rekha's father).

The makers have released a new poster of the actor looking quite dapper as the personality he is playing in the movie. In that dark-greyish jacket, white T-shirt, and brown trousers with shades, Salmaan is bringing in next-gen coolness in the '60s.

Mahanati, directed by Mahanati, also stars Samantha Akkineni as Madhuravani, Vijay Devarakonda as Vijay Anthony, Shalini Pandey as Janaki Ramachandran, Prakash Raj as Aluri Chakrapani, Krish as K. V. Reddy and Naga Chaitanya as Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The movie is scheduled to release on May 9.
