NTR Mahanayakudu Movie Review: Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vidya Balan And Rana Dagubbati Make The Political Sequel A Decent Watch

Times of India – 3.5/5

LKG is mostly a satisfying political satire and inarguably the best among the recent crop of political films. Its success lies in how efficiently it manages to strike a balance between idealism and cynicism, and reflects the attitude of the common man towards politics. It manages to achieve this thanks to the characterisation of its protagonist, LKG.

Firstpost – 3.25/5

It is an out and out RJ Balaji show, and he is there in every frame of the film. Balaji and his team of writers provide a script that is razor sharp and able to provide maximum laughs. Priya does a neat job, making the most of a character with a mind of her own.  However, there are some logical loopholes in the script and the hero really does not have any major political setbacks.

Sify – 3/5

What really works in favour of LKG is the film's satirical take on contemporary murky politics in the country. Balaji’s comical timing and his image is another big advantage. The film is filled with various trendy references like the importance of meme creators, corporate/media influencers, Thala-Thalapathy fanaticism, the recent political atrocities and more such things which will definitely work with the masses. LKG is Balaji’s home ground so hits each and every ball out of the park.

India Today – 3/5

LKG is based on what trends on social media and it is full of easter eggs. From Vijay fans to PM Narendra Modi, everyone is trolled and that makes LKG successful. But the film is not just made up of these Easter eggs. There's a story too... a convincing one.

Filmi Beat – 3.5/5

LKG is without doubt, an effortless one-man show by RJ Balaji. He delivers dialogues and expressions with ease while he has also donned the role of a co-writer. Priya Anand fills in the place of the female lead and is decent. KR Prabhu’s direction is laudable with the major highlight of the movie being its crisp run-time, which doesn't overdo anything.

Hindustan Times – 3/5

LKG can’t be brushed aside as any other political satire. As much as Balaji plays to his strengths and relies heavily on comedy to make his point, this is a very important and relevant film that encourages us to see politics from a different point of view.
