The Kerala State Film Awards is one of the prestigious events to honour and felicitate the best movies and artists in the Malayalam cinema. The cultural affairs minister A.K. Balan has announced the winners of the 49th Kerala State Film Awards. Jayasurya and Soubin Shahir and Nimisha Sajayan have bagged the best actor and best actress award respectively. As per the reports by Onmanorama, the jury for the esteemed award was chaired by screenwriter and director Kumar Shahani. All eyes were on the best actor and best actress category. The stars who were competing in the best actor category included Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, Dileep, Jayasurya, Soubin Shahir, Tovino Thomas, Suraj Venjaramood and Joju George. The competition was tight even for the best actress award. The top contenders were Manju Warrier, Nazriya Nazim, Aiswarya Lakshmi and Anu Sithara.
