The makers of the upcoming Pongal big release, Kanguva, dropped the first official trailer of Kanguva. The promo for the Siva directorial solely focused on the period portions of the film, which includes the warring tribes led by Suriya Svikumar's titular protagonist Kanguva, and his rival, played by Bobby Deol. Kanguva and his tribe have Viking-like appearances, and the trailer also features some epic battles between the two tribes, as well as a naval battle with what we assume are Spartans (?). ‘Kanguva’ Trailer: Amidst Suriya-Bobby Deol’s Tribal Wars, Fans Believe They Spotted Karthi! The Kanguva trailer also features some wild creatures, from sharks to crocodiles. One very memorable scene features Suriya's character trying to send an arrow with a snake on it. We wonder who the poor victim at the receiving end would be.

However, this 'nagastra' scene felt familiar to us because we know of a similar sequence in SS Rajamouli's pan-India film Baahubali: The Beginning. The aforementioned sequence featured Prabhas and Tamanaah's characters, Sivudu and Avantika, respectively, and saw Sivudu sneak upon Avantika while she was practising archery. He drops a snake on her arms to make her still, and he can draw a tattoo on her arm (?). The snake then crawls onto the arrow, and a composed Avantika shoots the arrow with the snake on it.

Kanguva is releasing on October 10. The movie is reportedly set in two timelines, with the trailer focussing more on the period saga. Apart from Suriya and Bobby Deol (in his first Tamil film), the movie also stars Disha Patani, Jagapathi Babu and Yogi Babu. Karthi is reportedly having a cameo in the film.
