Piracy website Tamilrockers has become infamous for leaking South Indian and Bollywood films within a day of their theatrical release. After Bollywood's big-budget film Kalank became a recent victim of it, two big South releases have now also been leaked. Raghava Lawrence's Kanchana 3 and Nani's sports drama Jersey are the latest films to have been the victims of piracy. Other major South Indian films that were leaked by Tamilrockers within a day of their release include Petta, Viswasam and Vanathaan Rajavathaan Varuven. Horror comedy Kanchana 3 is the fourth instalment in the series that began in 2007. Helmed by Raghava Lawrence and the film also stars himself along with Devadarshini, Sriman, Manobala, Kovai Sarala, Sathyaraj, Oviya, Soori, Kabir Duhan Singh and Yogi Babu.

The film opened to poor reviews, LatestLY wrote, "Kanchana 3 is perhaps the worst of the three Kanchana films. The first part of Kanchana with Sarathkumar as the spirit of a eunuch taking over Raghava's body to avenge her death actually had a character with that name. But that's not the important point here. Focussing on a eunuch character and speaking about the evils and taboo of the society towards the third gender was good intent. What happened to Raghava Lawrence after that is beyond my understanding."

Websites like Tamilrockers allow users to illegally download latest films. Despite several attempts have been made to stop piracy, several websites like Tamilrockers still continue to function. In most cases, these piracy leaks cause the film's producers massive losses. Despite warnings from the Madras High Court, Tamilrockers continue to indulge in piracy.
