Kamal Haasan has won a record 19 Filmfare awards across languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. His first award was for his film Kanyakumari. His last win was for Hey Ram in 2000, after which he wrote a letter to the organisation to not give him any more awards.

Kamal Haasan Was The First Choice for Shankar's Robot/Enthiran
Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai starrer Enthiran/Robot is one of the most expensive and most successful movies made in India. But Rajini sir was not the first choice. Shankar had first announced the project, then titled Robo, with Kamal Haasan in the lead role and Preity Zinta playing the female lead. The actors even shot for a few promotional pictures. But the project went off the rails due to financial reasons.
Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for Saagar
For some reasons in 1986, Filmfare Awards decided to nominate Kamal Haasan for awards in two categories for the same film. Kamal starred in Saagar, and was nominated for not just Best Supporting Actor but also Best Actor as well. He won the latter.
