According to Vyjayanthi Movies, the producers of Kalki 2898 AD, Nag Ashwin's ambitious sci-fi film has grossed INR 1000 crore worldwide. However, there are some trade analysts who claim that the film has not collected the figures that the makers are posting, and the actual numbers are lesser than that. Prominent among them are Sumit Kadel and Rohit Jaiswal. Now, as per a report in Bollywood Hungama, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD have filed legal notices against these two trade analysts for allegedly posting fake box office collections of the movie. Kadel and Jaiswal have been persistently claiming that Kalki 2898 AD has been inflating box office numbers, particularly the theatrical revenue from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The interesting aspect is that they are not the only ones doing so. Even portals like Pinkvilla have been posting fewer numbers compared to what Vyjayanthi Movies has been giving out.

Producers's 'Official Update' on 'Kalki 2898 AD' Grossing INR 1000 Crore WW

Now, Bollywood Hungama has quoted a source telling them, "Sumit Kadel has received the copy of the legal notice while Rohit Jaiswal should get it by the end of Friday, July 19 or latest by Saturday. The legal notice states that both Sumit Kadel and Rohit Jaiswal will now have to cite their source for the collections of Kalki 2898 AD, which they have given out and which they have claimed are the real earnings. That’s not all. They’ll also have to submit daily collections with a territorial breakup to back up their claim. If they fail to do so within a stipulated time frame, both will be liable to pay the producers a fine of Rs. 25 crores for publishing blatant lies and fake narratives, which have been their hallmark." ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ Movie Review: Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan’s Sci-Fi Film Is Far From Perfect but Impresses With Nag Ashwin’s World-Building.

However, Sumit Kadel posted on X on July 18, telling his followers not to believe the stories posted by 'FAMOUS FAKE NEWS PEDDLER WEBSITE'.

Below is the last 'update' Kadel gave about Kalki 2898 AD's WW collections on July 13, the same day the producers claimed the film touched the INR 1000 crore mark. Rohit Jaiswal hasn't responded yet to this news on his social media profile.

Who you believe about Kalki 2898 AD's box office collections is up to you, but what the makers of the blockbuster tried to pull off here, if they have done so, is an unprecedented move that could change box office reporting in India. This also raises questions about the lack of transparency in Indian cinema when it comes to tracking box office collections.
