Karthi goes massy with his latest movie, the family entertainer Kadaikutty Singham. The movie is quite special since it is produced by his elder brother, Tamil superstar Suriya Sivakumar. Karthi who was quite impressive in his last release, Theeran Adhigaram Ondru, gets into the rural milieu with Kadaikutty Singham. Sayyeshaa Saigal is playing the female lead. Kadaikutty Singham is directed by Pandiraj and also stars Sathyaraj, Bhanu Priya, Soori, among others.

The movie was released on July 13 where it is clashing with Mirchi Shiva's Tamizh Padam 2 at the box office. However, Kadaikutty Singam has been getting not-so-great reviews from the critics, which can affect its box office appeal.  Check out what major publications have to say about the movie -

Hindustan Times says, "Kadaikutty Singham is a film that set out to explore the dynamics of a joint family in a rural village in Tamil Nadu, but ended up becoming a messy affair that tried to do it all."

Firstpost says, "The story and the packaging remind you of 1990s rural mass films churned by Vijaykanth and a few others. The storytelling is preachy and filled with melodrama, and bringing in a villain just for the sake of it and make the hero flex his muscles. However, the Rekla race scene has been captured in a stunning manner by cinematographer Velraj. To be fair, director Pandiraj’s dialogues are good and he has given each and every character their due in the nearly 150-minute film."

News18 says, "Heavy and pedantic, Kadaikutty Singam is an exaggerated, messy work, and completely out of touch with modern times. Sadly, Karthi is wasted at a juncture when he seemed to be bobbing out of cliched waters after an interesting performance in Theeran Adhigaram Ondru – where he essayed a cop determined to crush a gang of murderous dacoits. Soori, as Singam's cousin, has interesting lines, witty and at times refreshingly novel. Little else on offer."

Since audiences love massy entertainers with a family appeal, movies like Kadaikutty Singam are mostly critic-proof. So will the movie escape the scathing reviews and do wonders at the box office is something only time will tell!
