Kaala Box Office Collection: Did Rajinikanth's Film Really Collect Rs 100 Crore Worldwide in Three Days?
Kaala is directed by Pa Ranjith and has Rajinikanth play a Dharavi-based slumlord who finds himself at crossroads with a politician, played by Nana Patekar.
Say what you want about Rajinikanth and his star-power, man surely knows how to get a grand start for his movies. His latest release, Kaala, has taken off on a strong footing, at least in the international arenas. Back home, Kaala is not one of his best openers, but overseas, the movie has taken a great initial. In the North American box office, Kaala has managed to gross more than $1 million at the box office, making it Rajinikanth's fourth movie to do so after Enthiran, Lingaa, and Kabali. In Australia, it had the second-best opening for an Indian film after Padmaavat.
With such great overseas performance, it is hardly any surprise that there are reports that. Kaala has managed to gross more than Rs 100 crore worldwide. It looks like Rajinikanth's aura and the movie's political tones have resonated well with the NRI's. Interestingly, Rajinikanth's earlier film Kabali has collected more than Rs 100 crore in a single day!
But if you remember, the collections of Kabali were taken with a pinch of salt, since the producers were accused of exaggerating the figures. The same accusation has followed Kaala too, as there is no proper verification of how Kaala managed to collect Rs 100 crore worldwide. Some of the trade sources are of the view that the movie has only managed to collect Rs 84 crore worldwide, and it is deemed as Thalaiva's lowest grossing movie to date. But Kaala has already managed to make profits in terms of satellite and music rights and has raked in Rs 230 crore.
Kaala is directed by Pa Ranjith and has Rajinikanth play a Dharavi-based slumlord who finds himself at crossroads with a politician, played by Nana Patekar. Eswari Rao plays his wife, and Huma Qureshi plays his former lover. Dhanush has produced the movie.
