Aasai Aasaiyai – This movie is special not only to Jiiva, but also to his father RB Choudary, as it was the latter’s 50th production (Super Good Films) in which the former made his debut as a lead actor\. Directed by Ravi Mariya, Aasai Aasaiyai, Jiiva essayed the character Vinod who wanted to become a businessman after completing his bachelors, but fate had something else in store for him.
Raam – Directed by Ameer, Raam was a crime thriller and it was Jiiva’s third movie. The handsome hunk played the role of an eccentric 17-year-old for which he received positive feedback from audience and critics. Raam was screened at the Cyprus International Film Festival, where Jiiva won the Best Actor award. After Sivaji Ganesan, Jiiva is the only Tamil actor to receive this prestigious award.
E - Jiiva, Nayanthara, Pasupathy, Ashish Vidyarthi and Karunaas played the lead in SP Jananathan’s film. Jiiva played the titular role, Easwaran alias E, an orphan brought up in Chennai by an old woman. Both critics and audience gave a thumbs up for this 2006 released film, and also appreciated it for a fresh story-line. E was a commercial success!
Kattradhu Thamizh – This was a psychological thriller helmed by Ram, which also marked his directorial debut. The film revolves around a young postgraduate who is frustrated in his life, not satisfied with his job. Such an imbalance in his life leads makes him lose his mental balance over a period of time. Although this film did not turn out to be a blockbuster at the ticket windows, it garnered a cult following later.
Nanban – Shankar’s directorial Nanban was a multi-starrer flick. It featured Vijay, Jiiva, Srikanth, Ileana D'Cruz, Sathyan and Sathyaraj in the lead. This Tamil movie was a remake of Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots that starred Aamir Khan, Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani and Omi Vaidya in the lead. This movie turned out to be a hit in Kollywood as well.
In 2019 the films in which Jiiva played the lead includes Kee and Gorilla. Jiiva’s performance in the films were praised by critics and his fans.
