Puri Jagannadh directed and produced film ISMart Shankar released today (July 18). This Tamil-language film stars Ram Pothineni and Niddhi Agerwal in the lead. The teaser of ISmart Shankar looked promising but the end result wasn’t impressive. This was the first time that Ram Pothineni ditched the role of a lover boy and went for a massy, action role. From his Hyderabadi accent to his rugged avatar, fans were mighty impressed seeing a different role zeroed down by Ram Pothineni. Though some of the die-hard fans have said ISmart Shankar is an out-and-out mass entertainer, critics are not that impressed with it. iSmart Shankar is a loud, messy and pakka mass film that fails to take off. While Mani Sharma’s music and BGM adds to the noise (literally), it doesn’t do much to help the film. Give this one a chance this weekend if you’re a Puri, Ram or Nabha fan, you might find the patience needed. If you’re looking for anything remotely logical, feel free to give this one a miss.

Overall iSmart Shankar is good entertainer movie. The major assets of the movie are the stunning performance and dancing style of Ram Pothineni, punchy dialogues and Interval episode.  Coming to Puri Jagannadh, he has done a good job with the film. The dialogues are a delight for the youth and masses.  The way he has narrated the story in an interesting way and showcased Ram Pothineni needs a special mention.

Overall, iSmart Shankar has a passable first half that raises hopes on the second one. The highly routine narrative devoid of genuine twists is a bummer. Still, iSmart Shankar is worth a visit once to theatres for creating the fantastic lead protagonist.
