Shahid Kapoor is all set to star in yet another South remake, this time Nani's Telugu sports drama, Jersey. While the film is expected to go on the floors in November, we hear the makers may have found the female lead for the film. Shahid Kapoor kicked off 2019 on a splendid note thanks to his recent release, Kabir Singh. The film not only won him massive praises from the critics but it also went on to become one of the most successful films at the box office this year. The film was a remake of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy and now we hear, Shahid is all set to star in another Telugu remake. The actor has apparently given a nod to star in the remake of Nani starrer Jersey. According to reports, Shahid is all set to begin working on this film in November and currently, the makers have been busy finding a leady lady for the film. If recent reports are to go by, Shahid Kapoor and the film's director Dil Raju may have already found a female lead for the film. Buzz is that the actor recently had a meeting with Raju about the film and the duo seem to have found Dear Comrade star Rashmika Mandanna perfect for the role. She is a successful actress down South and has starred in popular films such as Geetha Govindam, and more recently Dear Comrade alongside Vijay Deverakonda.
We hear the actress is yet to give a nod for the project and is she does, this film will mark her Bollywood debut. Considering the success of Kabir Singh, the Kannada actress may consider taking up this remake. Despite all the negative comments about the film's content, Kabir Singh went on to make Rs 370 crore at the box office. Jersey is a sports drama revolving around a talented but failed cricketer who decides to make a comeback to the sport in his late thirties driven by the desire to represent the Indian cricket team and fulfil his son's wish for a jersey as a gift. The original film starred Shraddha Srinath as Nani's love interest.
