The actor who celebrated the occasion with his entire family and a picture of which is now going viral on the internet received the best birthday gift from Shankar, the director of his next, Indian 2. While it's a tradition in the Southern industry to unveil either a look, teaser or the trailer of a film on the actor's birthday, the makers of Indian 2 didn't plan on breaking the customs. Director Shankar took to his Twitter account to wish Haasan on his birthday by sharing a new picture of Senapathi in his classic look from the sets of Indian 2. Indian 2 had its own share of difficulties and nothing came in so easy for the director. There were reports of how Lyca Productions didn't want to invest so much in Shankar's directorial, especially after the failure of 2.0 at the box office. They wanted him to cut down on his budget and he was against the idea. Indian 2 is special for him and Haasan fans on so many levels. The movie is touted as Kamal Haasan's final release in the movie industry before he enters politics and diverts his entire focus on it. Indian 2 also stars Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Vidyut Jammwal, Kajal Aggarwal, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Aishwarya Rajesh in key roles.
