On August 28 the audio launch of Dhanush’s upcoming flick Asuran, directed by Vetrimaaran, took place in Chennai. During the event Dhanush spoke on how he was cheated by producers in the past and how the makers of Asuran gave him his payment before the shooting of the film. Dhanush said, “Getting full remuneration has become a rarity these days. But in Asuran, Thanu sir settled my salary prior to the shoot. It was very helpful for me,” reports Sify News. Kalaipuli S Thanu, producer of Asuran, who was also present at the audio launch said, “Actors like Dhanush are helping the industry to survive. He let go crores of money for the release of his films, it's a rare quality for an actor of his stature.”
But looks like that statement from Kalaipuli S Thanu did not go down well with AL Azhagappan. A video of Azhagappan is doing rounds on the internet in which he has stated that producers must stop producing films featuring Dhanush. He also mentioned how Dhanush charges more than other leading stars in Kollywood and how his films have caused loss to the distributors in the past. Fans who are miffed with Azhagappan’s statement started asking ‘who is he’ and even questioned on the kind films he has produced.
