Dileep Case: Survivor Requests SC To Deny The Accused From Accessing Visuals of the Sexual Assault

Malayalam actor Dileep has been grabbing headlines for his controversy since past two years now. The actor was accused to be the mastermind behind an assault of a Malayalam actress while she was going back from her workplace. The case moved to Supreme Court and the hearings are getting pushed from one to another. However, recently, the case saw a development where the actress has appealed to the court to not handover the visual evidence to Dileep and other accused people. In February 2018, Dileep had requested for the copy of the memory card containing the visuals of assault of the actress. He moved to the Supreme Court requesting for the same after the Angamaly Magistrate Court rejected his plea.

Before the actress’ request, even Kerala Government reportedly requested the apex court to not hand over the visual evidence to the accused persons. The reason cited was that it might have ‘serious consequences. They reasoned that it would set a wrong example with POCSO and also the video might get circulated. Now, as the actress has requested to allow her to be the part of the proceedings related to the visual evidence, it has to be seen how the further development turns out to be.
