Dear Comrade once again brings Vijay Devrakonda to a character that made him famous, Arjun Reddy. Sure, the actor has portrayed as an angry young man in the past as well. His performance in Dear Comrade is no different. Once again, he dons a role that expects him to be a passionate guy who roots for what he believes in. The first half basically begins with Bobby (originally Chaitanya, played by Devrakonda) running a massive student union stint right outside a hospital as he vouches to bring down the exorbitant tuition fees. Of course, he manages to win the fight against the university's management. The scene then changes to his love story. Enter Lily (Rashmika Mandanna). Although initially she is not smitten by Bobby, but as they realise that they are neighbours and after spending some quality time, fall for each other. Will Vijay Deverakonda Star in Karan Johar’s Hindi Remake of Dear Comrade? There are trials and tribulations in their romance too as she rejects him for his uncanny personality similarity with her brother, who passed away amid a student union fight. The first half promises a lot of masala and romance. Although it seems like Bobby's love story might be taking a back seat now, we could be wrong. Devrakonda as Bobby is hotheaded, short-tempered, passionate, very headstrong and believes in the truth. He cannot stand being blamed for something that be is not responsible for. Not to mention how he is very impulsive and takes decisions, good or bad, in the heat of the moment. That sort of sums up why his romance with Lily went kaput. Dear Comrade Trailer: Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s Chemistry Is the Highlight in This Bharat Kamma Directorial (Watch Video)

Anyway, we sure hope that the second half focuses more on the premise of the title, 'comrade'. So far he has been aimlessly fighting for small concerns. Perhaps he will channel his energy in a better field? Maybe he'll realise that he belongs somewhere else where he can be called and respected for being a comrade? Here's hoping! Stay tuned to this space for the complete review of the film.
