On the other hand, the film is also facing the a financial controversy. A Malaysian distribution company filed a plea in the Madras High Court appealing for a stay on the film's release. The company claimed that Lyca Productions, who overlook Darbar, had assured that they will clear the ‘dues’ of Rs 23.70 crore before the release of the flick. However, the production has termed the claims made by the distribution company as ‘false’ and ‘baseless.'
