While Bollywood is licking its wounds already with three movies this Diwali which have underperformed as per expectations, South is raging with Vijay's Bigil. It's a norm for Vijay to have a Diwali release and make it count. This time too he did the same. As per trade expert Ramesh Bala, the actor got his career's best opening in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telengana. It has earned Rs 2.58 crore. It is titled Whistle in these states. Bigil anyway did fantastically well on its first day. Hindi movies were struggling to get audience to the theatre, but Vijay's film saw a massive turnout. It had a 70% occupancy across. That explains the might of Vijay. Also, the film did get good reviews which accelerated its gains at the box office on the first day.

Now it remains to be seen how much the film earns in totality. The numbers are still not in yet but reports suggest it saw a blockbuster opening yesterday.
