Kamal Haasan movies and controversies go hand in hand. Most of his recent releases had found trouble with the Censor Board or with the political parties. In fact, most of the publicity Kamal Haasan's movies get is through controversies itself. One of his latest movies, Vishwaroopam, has found itself in trouble with certain Muslim groups for its content, even before its release. Now its much-delayed sequel, Vishwaroopam 2, has bugged Censor Board to earn 17 cuts for a U/A rating.
As per a report in BollywoodLife, it's the Hindi version that is in more trouble with the CBFC. The report says that some of the Board members have issues with the political commentary in some sections of the movie. Kamal Haasan is known to inject his political and religious views, which most often get them in trouble. Looks like the same is the case with Vishwaroopam 2 as well. The makers, however, has not given any official confirmation on this.
Vishwaroopam 2 has Kamal Haasan play an Indian spy who is out to take down a formidable terrorist ring. The sequel will also bring back the original players from the first movie like Shekhar Kapur, Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah. The movie is scheduled to release around June or July.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan has been going strong with his political ambitions. Recently, Kamal Haasan officially launched a mobile application for whistleblowers in Tamil Nadu. Haasan, who heads the newly launched Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), has asked his party cadres, apart from civil society activists, to download the app - 'Maiam Whistle' - and post details of any lax work or corruption by civic officials, bureaucrats and elected legislators.
