Manju Warrier, one of Malayalam cinema' most loved actresses, may have acted in a lot of Malayalam film, but she has never crossed over to other languages. That's all going to change with Asuran, the upcoming film, where Manju is all set to make her Tamil debut. Asuran stars Dhanush in the lead, and is directed by Vetri Maaran. The last time these two came together, we had the ambitious gangster saga, Vada Chennai that came out in 2018. The sequel for that is still in works, though Asuran will take priority. It will be a more commercial fare and will be reportedly adapting from a novel called VekkaiDhanush To Start Shooting For Vetrimaaran's Asuran From January 26, 2019!

Speaking of Manju Warrier's casting, it was Dhanush himself who announced the news through his Twitter handle. He wrote, "#asuran - update .. the evergreen Manju Warrier will be playing the female lead. Excited to share screen space and learn from this amazing talent." Asuran Poster Out: Dhanush’s New Look in Vetri Maaran’s Film Is Intriguing.

While this may be the first time that Manju has been acting in a Tamil movie, some of her popular films have already been remade there. Most famously was her comeback film to Malayalam cinema, How Old Are You?, whose remake was also Tamil actress Jyothika's comeback film too, produced by her husband, actor Suriya Sivakumar. In Malayalam cinema, Manju will be seen next in Lucifer and Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, both starring Mohanlal.
