Last evening, Premam star Nivin Pauly was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Dubai last year. An FIR has been filed against him and five others, with Pauly being the sixth accused. In the latest development, veteran actor Alencier Ley Lopez has been accused of sexual harassment by a young female artiste, who alleges the incident occurred in 2017 during the filming of Aabhaasam in Bengaluru.

A case has been filed against Lopez at the Chengamanad police station in Ernakulam. The woman also claims that she reported the incident to Edavela Babu, the then-general secretary of the organization AMMA, but was dismissed after Babu argued that Lopez had already issued an apology. A note was reportedly posted on set cautioning the team from Kerala to behave, which was confirmed by a crew member to ETimes. Additionally, in 2023, the Kerala Women’s Commission filed a case against Lopez for allegedly misbehaving with a female journalist who sought an interview regarding his controversial comments about the Kerala State Film Awards. Lopez, who won a Special Mention for his performance in Appan, had made distasteful remarks about the female statuette, suggesting that a male statuette should be awarded when a male Chief Minister is in office.
