In a double blow to Indian cinema, two celebs, known for their way with words, left us for their heavenly abode on June 10. The first sad news we heard was that reputed playwright, actor and director Girish Karnad has passed away earlier in the morning. He was 81. The Padma Bhushan winner has not been keeping well for some time, and he breathed his last in Bengaluru. Karnad had acted in languages like Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, with Kannada Cinema being his stronghold. Girish Karnad Death: Karnataka Declares 3-Day State Mourning, Schools, Colleges and Government Offices to Remain Shut on Monday.

In Bollywood, he was part of popular movies like Meri Jung, China Gate, Pukar, Iqbal, Dor and Ek Tha Tiger. His last film here was the Salman Khan-starrer Tiger Zinda Hai. Karnad was also known for directing the erotic cult classic, Utsav, that starred Rekha, Shekhar Suman and Shashi Kapoor. But more than his filmography, Girish Karnad was lauded for his theatre work and plays. His contribution to the arena of the stage will definitely be missed.

The second celeb that left Cinema in mourning was Crazy Mohan, popular scriptwriter and actor. He had suffered from a heart attack and passed away in Chennai. Crazy Mohan was known for his association with Indian cinema legend Kamal Haasan and pen some of his most entertaining blockbusters like Sathi Leelavathi, Michael Madana Kama Rajan, Apoorva Sagodharargal, Indian, Avvai Shanmughi, Panchathanthiram and Vasool Raja MBBS. Crazy Mohan Passes Away at 67; Kamal Haasan, Siddarth, Khushbu Sundar, and Other Tamil Celebs Mourn the Loss of the Celebrated Scriptwriter – Read Tweets.

As Cinema mourns these two legends, fans have been trending a still from Ratchagan. The movie, that came out in 1997, is directed by S Shankar and has Akkineni Nagarjuna and Sushmita Sen in the lead, with Girish Karnad in an important supporting role.

The below image lends to very sad coincidence as during the credits sequence, Crazy Mohan's name, who is the dialogue writer for the movie, appears when Girish Karnad is on the screen.
