Not many moons ago, we, her admirers, as indeed the world, knew her as Sonam Kapoor. Fresh after her marriage, she is now SonamK Ahuja! Given her stance on Feminism, we thought Sonam would retain her Maidan identity. C'mon Bollywood, and the fashion world at large, know her by that name, don't they? Kapoor, has, time and again, stood for individuality. Why then this sudden switch from Kapoor to Ahuja one wonders! Well, Sonam apparently calls it a matter of personal choice.

Is this the classic case of selective feminism, one wonders! It so happened that Sonam was asked by a journo about changing her name from Sonam Kapoor to Sonam Ahuja immediately after her wedding. Sonam has an interesting answer to give to this query. In her response, Sonam maintained that she had been engaged for long and had been thinking about it and that it was a matter of (personal) choice, after all.

The paradox is starkly visible even on the work front. In her forthcoming movie, Veerey Di Wedding Sonam stands for the so-called liberal woman who questions if the woman is complete only when she has the mandatory Mangalsutra tied around her neck? Clearly, Sonam is advocating the free-spirited, non-marriage confirming young lady, but in reality, she has tied the knot, that too before the release of her film. And that goes against the grain of the character she plays in the film!

Now we sincerely question if all these moves made by Sonam will harm the theme and the core idea of Veerey Di Wedding? Will Sonam's marriage and the fact that she has changed her name work against the film? Well, only time will tell!
