Sonali Bendre’s Latest Post Is About Body Positivity: If I want To Walk Around Bald And Free, I Will
Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre, unlike many other celebrities, did not choose to battle the big C in closed doors. The actress decided to be a movie star in real life and do it all before the cameras on social media. The Sarfarosh actress bowed out of children’s reality show after she was detected with a high-grade cancer the news of which the actress broke on her Instagram account in early July this year. What has followed ever since on Sonali’s Instagram page will has not just help families who are going through this trauma, but also others.
After her first post many felt that the actress would shy away from social media. But Sonali proved everybody wrong. She posted her transformation as she battled cancer one post at a time. First, she got rid of her tresses for a short bob and rocked it. Then came the post where she taught us how to handle non-adults. Sonali talked about how she broke this unfortunate news to her 11-year-old son. Then came the bold and beautiful Sonali Bendre chilling with her friends and flaunting her new bald look. We all did not just adore Sonali’s attitude but also loved her new look.
Today the actress talked about vanity, beauty and doing what one likes. The actress talked about self-love and admiration. At a time when you are fat shamed, skinny shamed and trolled for not being “a type” of person; Sonali’s message goes out to all those who are victims of shaming and trolling. She strikes a chord with those who chose to stand out, to be happy and break the norms.
She appealed for you to accept you for whom you are, what you want to be when she wrote:
"Vanity is my favourite sin." - Al PacinoWell, it might not be my all-time favourite sin (that would be gluttony ), but who doesn't like looking good? The way we look has a profound psychological impact on us... A little vanity here and there does no one any harm. It's important to do what makes you happy, even if it's something as simple as wearing a wig, bright red lipstick, high heels.... All that white noise doesn't make a difference in the larger picture. No one can tell you what's right or wrong for you. When I was testing out the wigs, I had a brief moment of self-doubt... "Am I vain for wanting to look good?" As part of the entertainment industry, you're always expected to look good... Maybe that has been ingrained in me? But then I gave it a thought and I realized I like looking good for me. If I'm in the mood to wear a scarf, I will. If I want to walk around bald and free, I will. Only you know what would make you feel good, and what works best for you.
So take every opportunity you can to #SwitchOnTheSunshine. #OneDayAtATime Thank you @priyankachopra for connecting me with the amazing @bokheehair, who created my new look.
Well, we can’t thank Sonali enough for making our day with her positive posts and teaching us one lesson at a time about life. And yes, we love your new wig! It suits you and your vibrant spirit.
