Romance makes our films going, adding the spice to the entertainment. The anticipation of the love story’s future keeps a lot of us hooked to the end. And it is the lead actors who are responsible for connect with the audiences. Over the years we have our favourite onscreen couples, but this year we got to see some refreshing pairs. We got to see some new sizzling chemistry which we had never thought of before. Let us take a look at some of the new actor-actress pairs we saw in 2017.

1. Shah Rukh Khan- Mahira Khan (Raees)

Shah Rukh Khan does his best when it comes to romancing onscreen. While we are all takers for Kajol, his chemistry with Mahira Khan was adorable too. Though they had few scenes together on the screen, those lighter moments still weaved the magic on screen. The romantic tracks added especially for their scenes together were hits, just proving how they were loved by the people.

2. Diljit Dosanjh- Anushka Sharma (Phillauri)

Diljit Dosanjh had captured hearts with his voice but his romance with Anushka Sharma only added more elements to the film. The film did not exactly work well due to the flaws in the story but the chemistry did not go unnoticed.

3. Irrfan Khan- Saba Qamar (Hindi Medium)

Irfan Khan is such a brilliant performer and this was a completely new pairing. With those light sarcastic moments and a very convincing subject, this pair was very refreshing watch on the screen. The couple working hard for their child’s future and complimenting each other through all the changes, their chemistry was a delight.

4. Sidharth Malhotra - Jacqueline Fernandez (A Gentleman)

Two youth appealing hot bodied actors paired up against each other had to fly sparks. But this film had nothing else working for it. But what we did hear more off was how this onscreen sizzle even continued for some time off screen. So that seemed to have worked for Sidharth and Jacqueline.

5. Yami Gautam- Hrithik Roshan (Kaabil)

Hrithik Roshan was coming to the screen after a break and that too with a new actress had a certain excitement to it. Moreover, Kaabil was a story of a blind couple in love. Both the actors gave good performances and had certain mushy scenes. But with the pair getting little screen time, we did not get to see more of this chemistry to be explored.

6. Akshay Kumar- Bhumi Pednekar (Toilet: Ek Prem Katha)

Bhumi Pednekar is someone who has chose to do serious roles while we have seen Akshay play the stuntman or the laughing stock. But when these two brilliant performers were paired together they did match. Whatever scenes they had together had little of romance but it was adorable. They played a couple who we looked forward to staying together until the end.

7. Sushant Singh Rajput- Kriti Sanon (Raabta)

Ever since the two were paired up together for the film there was more news about their offscreen chemistry blooming. Despite denials, we all saw how Kriti and Sushant were all smiles in the company of each other. While they made a very cute couple, it, unfortunately, did not transfer on the film. Probably their chemistry got marred by the weak plot of this film. But nonetheless, these two do complement each other.

8. Vidya Balan-Manav Kaul (Tumhari Sulu)

This is one of the best-loved pairings we saw in 2017 and we loved it for its absolute ordinariness. Vidya and Manav shared such a crackling chemistry of a very relatable couple. There was no too much jazz but a supportive husband to an enthusiastic wife. This pair looked so perfectly complimenting for each other and exactly suited the new narrative.

In providing something new to the audiences we also to see some new jodis and well some of them did appeal to us. A lot has to do with the plot of the film as well, so some of them could’ve worked better if the story was better. While others made more news because of their off-screen equations. So let us see what 2018 has in store for us with regards to new pairings. We do have a lot of interesting films lined up.
