Salman Khan's NGO 'Being Human' in Trouble With BMC - Find Out Why

Salman Khan's non-profit organisation has been blacklisted by Mumbai's civil body for not arranging to set up dialysis units, after getting the contract to do so over a year.

One of the few things Salman Khan is appreciated for and loved by his fans and admirers is for his NGO, Being Human. The organisation, while also popular for giving its name to an apparel line, has initiated a lot of welfare trusts and organisations to help the needy and many of their 'success stories' have often been trumpeted by the fan clubs and the media. However, Being Human is now under the BMC radar for not meeting its promise.

The non-profit organisation has been blacklisted by Mumbai's civil body for not arranging to set up dialysis units, after getting the contract to do so over a year. As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, Salman Khan's organisation was supposed to set up concessional units in Bandra, failing which it has been served show-cause notice by the BMC. BMC has also taken over the deposit given by the NGO, and is now looking for new bidders to take over the project.

Speaking to Mirror, a senior BMC officer confirmed the news, saying, “Being Human, which was shortlisted for running the dialysis centre at Bandra (West), had paid the bank guarantee and was granted all the necessary permissions to go ahead with the project. But with the project not taking off, we have issued them a show-cause notice warning that they would be blacklisted.”

The newspaper also revealed that Being Human got the contract of providing the units at Rs 339.50 per piece against BMC's rate of Rs 360, even though there were suppliers providing the same for as low rate as Rs 40 per unit.

Meanwhile the spokesperson for Being Human issued a statement where it mentions not having any formal contract with BMC. The statement read, “The Being Human Foundation has certain mandatory requirements which need to be included in contracts. There were discussions around those which ultimately did not materialise. There was no formal contract/MoU signed at all.”

Wonder what Bhai has to say about the whole matter!
