Sacred Games has already embroiled itself in controversies. Despite the stellar performances by Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte and other actors and super-entertaining storyline, some of the politically agitated people made demands to pull it down. The controversial statements in this mafia drama, using the names of Congress and former PM Rajiv Gandhi has stirred the situation, hence the demand. However, an angry Saif defended the show and gives us some valid points to think upon. The show is done with the pure motive of entertainment and no other ulterior motive, the actor says. He also further added that the show is being targeted just to gain mileage by some people.

As reported in Midday, the 47-year-old actor says, “If the intention is correct — that of making entertaining content — then the idea of offending someone becomes secondary. If it has genuinely hurt people's sentiments, that's another story. But if a situation is motivated by someone trying to get mileage, that's lamentable. People are always looking for attention, and the easiest way to get that is to attack a movie or a movie star.”

He also further stated how people are protesting against Donald Trump in London, for which the mayor allowed them to do it in a polite manner. He added, “Freedom of speech is great, but the talk about pulling a show off air is destructive. You can't make a movie adhering to the guidelines of how not to offend anyone."

The directors of this eight-episode series, Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane faced legal mess as a plea was filed in the Delhi High Court asking to remove certain sections that mentioned the former PM. What are your thoughts on the controversy?
