Sacred Games 2: Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Kalki Koechlin Drop Major Hints About The Plot
Saif, Kalki, Nawaz, Pankaj, Jatin dropped some other major hints about the plot of Sacred Games 2 in an interview recently. While Saif revealed that the second season will pick from where the first ended, Nawaz talked about Ganesh Gaitonde and how there will be an internal change in the character.
We are literally counting days for the premiere of the second season of India's first Netflix Original, Sacred Games. The trailer was dropped last week and it only upped all the excitement. Now, recently the entire cast of Sacred Games 2 which includes Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Tripathi, Ranvir Shorey, Kalki Koechlin, Jatin Sarna, Surveen Chawla and Luke Kenny posed together for a retro photo-shoot that clearly has a 70s gangsta vibe. Two fan favourites - Kubbra Sait, who played Kuckoo in the first season and Jitendra Joshi, who played Constable Katekar are missing in this photo, which means that we won't get to see them in Sacred Games 2.
While this is something that we figured, Saif, Kalki, Nawaz, Pankaj, Jatin dropped some other major hints about the plot of Sacred Games 2 in an interview with Hindustan Times. Sacred Games 2 Trailer: Nawazuddin Siddiqui's New Look and Pankaj Tripathi's Guruji Inspire Hilarious Memes on Twitter.
Saif reveals that the second season picks from where the first ended. While the latter set the stage, the second edition will develop it further.
“Sacred Games Season 2 has been a very creative experience with some bright people putting their best foot forward, being as intelligent as they can, being as artistic as they can, and that’s not an environment that you find every day. It pretty much picks up from where the season 1 ends. While season 1 set the stage, this season develops it further, and deals more with the inner workings of Sartaj’s mind, personality, background, family, and father. It’s a logical progression; there’s a little more action, there’s a little more speed and drama, and it’s also when the whole sacred angle comes in,” revealed Saif.
Nawazuddin, on the other hand, revealed that the way his character Ganesh Gaitonde talks in the first season will remain the same in Sacred Games 2. However, situations around him will bring an internal change in him. “In the first season, the challenge was dealing with the situations that I faced as an actor, because I wasn’t aware of what my journey would be like in the second season. The situations my character faces in both seasons are different, so we had to keep adapting accordingly," he further said.
While we got to see very little of Pankaj Tripathi as Guruji in the first season, in Sacred Games 2, we will see more of him. Talking about his character, Tripathi told HT, “Guruji is a well-read man, he has his own style of thinking, and much like many others, he too feels that his beliefs and thoughts are superior to others, and that his approach to life is the correct one.”
Similarly, we didn't see much of Surveen Chawla in the previous edition. But in the upcoming season, she has a prominent role. “Jojo is somebody who’s not afraid of Gaitonde--she is just amazing. And in season 2, I think you’re going to find out why. She has a tremendous impact on Gaitonde’s life in every way,” Surveen was quoted.
Kalki is the new addition to the cast. She plays the character of Batya. She was seen with Guruji in the trailer. Kalki reveals we will get to see Batya's journey from a "rebellious, angry teenager with a drug addiction to this very calm woman over the years, once she reaches Guruji’s Ashram.”
Well, we can't wait for August 15 as that's when all the episodes of Sacred Games 2 will be available on Netflix. While the first season of Sacred Games was jointly directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, the second one is helmed by Anurag and Neeraj Ghaywan.
