What Sabyasachi has recently said about women models might stir up yet another controversy. In an interview with Architectural Digest, the ace designer opened up how he is tired to seeing scrawny, gaunt faces in the fashion industry and has a newfound thing for curvy women. In the interview, he mentioned how as a designer, an individual needs to keep reinventing himself/ herself to be fresh. "In fashion, you have to reinvent yourself every three to five years. You need to be fresh. Right now, I’ve become tired of gaunt faces and stick-thin models. He also went onto reveal how is is no more interested in catwalk shows. "I don’t believe in catwalk shows anymore. Instagram is so powerful, 65 per cent of my business originates from there,” he explained.

A couple of months back, Sabya went on to say something that became a nationwide controversy very soon. At the Harvard India Conference, he said, I think, if you tell me that you do not know how to wear a saree, I would say shame on you. It’s a part of your culture, (you) need to stand up for it.” After his remark, feminists especially had a lot to say to the designer. He received a lot of flak on social media and has now issued an apology for his remarks. To justify his point of view, he wrote an open letter on Instagram calling it an "unfortunate series of events".
