Roseanne Barr's comment on former US president's aide Valerie Jarrett has resulted in the cancellation of her show 'Roseanne'. ABC announced on Tuesday, May 29, that the sitcom is cancelled following "abhorrent" comments from the star, Roseanne Barr who made a racist Islamophobic tweet about Valerie Jarrett, Obama's advisor. Barr wrote on Twitter about Jarett comparing Valerie Jarrett to an ape and stated she has connections with the Muslim Brotherhood. Her tweet said, "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj."
Barr deleted the tweet shortly after it created a chaos and even left Twitter but the damage has been done. "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show," Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment, said in a statement Tuesday.

Bob Iger, the chief executive of Disney, which owns ABC also supported the decision of the channel. “There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing," he wrote on the Twitter account. Roseanne who is a strong Donald Trump supporter, soon apologised for her statements and even refrained from using Twitter. But she had continued with her stance. A certain user pointed out how her tweet was racist and all she replied was "Muslims r r NOT a race." Roseanne did try to come up with something supportive but it did little to help her. She eventually just quit the platform, deleting her account. In her apology she wrote, "I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me – my joke was in bad taste."
Roseanne's tweet had faced huge backlash even from prominent figures. Even her co-star Sara Gilbert condemned her tweets. “Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least," Gilbert said in a news report. The sitcom Roseanne had been in talks because it returned after a two-decade hiatus. It was among ABC's most-watched shows in the new series and had with more than 18 million viewers watching the premiere. The show now stands cancelled.
