A Karjat based Lawyer and activist, Rishikesh Joshi has filed an online complaint against Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh. As per the copy of the complaint, accessed by Latestly team, the actor has hurt the sentiments of the followers of Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj by clicking a selfie, with the director of his forthcoming film and the crew members, near the king's statue at Raigad fort.
It's a historical fact that Raigad is the birthplace of the Maratha king. Followers visit the place to seek the king's blessings, especially during his annual birth-anniversary. In recent times, the place was visited by several Marathi filmmakers, before the release of their movies.
The complainant filed against Riteish has raised objection over the selfie and has asked the Superintendent of Police to take a stern action against the star.
It so happened that Riteish shared a selfie clicked with his friends and film director Ravi Jadhav, story writer Vishwas Patil after posing near the statue. In the said picture, Riteish along with his team is clearly seen inside the sanctum. Soon after the picture was posted on social media, netizens slammed the actor, following which the Riteish apologised for unknowingly hurting the sentiments.
The complainant has not only demanded that a criminal case must be lodged against Riteish and his team, but it also stressed that a strict action must be taken against those who clicked the aforementioned picture. Moreover, Joshi has stated that this act could be a ploy to create tension in the community and should be investigated thoroughly. Reportedly, Riteish with his wife under his in-house production company is coming up with a Marathi film, based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The actor, we gather, is playing the lead role in the film.
