Padmaavat's 'Ghoomar' Song Played For PM Modi, Benjamin Netanyahu's Welcome in Ahmedabad
Netanyahu, along with Modi, visited Gujarat on Wednesday -- the fourth day of his Indian tour.
Ahmedabad, Jan 18: The 'ghoomar' song from upcoming Bollywood movie Padmaavat was reportedly played at the welcome ceremony for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his visiting Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu at the cultural function here.
Netanyahu, along with Modi, visited Gujarat on Wednesday -- the fourth day of his Indian tour. He delivered the keynote address at the iCreate Entrepreneurship Summit in Ahmedabad, apart from visiting the Centre for Excellence in Agriculture in Vadrad and Mahatma Gandhi's iconic Ashram in Sabarmati.
Padmaavat to release on Jan 25
Padmaavat, the controversy-ridden film, is slated to release on January 25. The film was earlier scheduled to get released on December 1, 2017, but had to be deferred due to the apprehensions raised by a fringe group - Shri Rajput Karni Sena.
The Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which examined the movie again after the protests raised by the Karni Sena, reportedly suggested some cuts to the movie, along with changing its name from Padmavati to Padmaavat.
Despite being issued the all-India release certificate by the CBFC, the screening of Padmaavat was banned by the four states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan. However, the ban was nullified by the Supreme Court today, stating that restricting the movie's screening would amount to violation of freedom of speech and expression.
