When Akshay Kumar walked out of Bhushan Kumar’s ambitious project, Mogul, a biopic on his late father Gulshan Kumar the makers were left in lurch. However, Aamir Khan stepped in and saved Subhash Kapoor directorial. The actor-turned-filmmaker joined hands with T-Series as the co-producers and buzz was that Aamir approached Ranbir Kapoor for Akshay’s role. However, recent reports suggest otherwise. It wasn’t Ranbir, but Aamir wanted television’s funny man Kapil Sharma to play Gulshan Kumar in Mogul. Many reports claimed that Mr Perfectionist was so happy with Ranbir’s work in Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanjay Dutt biopic (Sanju) that he wanted the Brahmastra hero to do another biopic. But it seems like RK Jr was never in the running.
Despite a dismal performance in movies, Aamir believed that Kapil Sharma was fit to play Gulshan Kumar’s role. It seems that the Thugs Of Hindostan star even scheduled meeting with Kapil. However, the comedian-turned-actor’s lack of professionalism cost him an Aamir Khan movie. Apparently, Aamir was to meet Kapil to discuss Mogul and the latter missed the scheduled appointment with AK not once, but twice! That’s right, Kapil did not show up for his meeting with Khan and kept the actor waiting. Of course, after Kapil’s no show twice, Aamir decided to act in the movie himself. While Kapil has been posting pictures from rehab and his close ones assure that the comedian is ready for a second stint on TV, this episode hints that Sharma’s punctuality may continue to be an issue.
As for Aamir, after the #MeToo storm hit Bollywood, the actor distanced himself from Bhushan Kumar’s Mogul. The makers sacked Subhash Kapoor who was accused of sexual misconduct in the past and buzz was that Aamir was not willing to collaborate with anybody accused of inappropriate behaviour. On Koffee With Karan season 6, the actor opened up about standing up for the victims. The actor also confessed that he lives in the fear of having finished an innocent’s career. However, at this point in time Aamir does not want to be associated with anyone who has been accused of preying on their colleagues.
Reports also suggested that T-Series is trying hard to woo Aamir back to this project. Insiders reveal that Rajkummar Hirani was approached to step into Subhash Kapoor’s shoes for this film. The last we heard was that Aamir has distanced himself from the movie because not just Subhash Kapoor, but even Bhushan Kumar has found himself embroiled in the #MeToo India movement.
