Popular Bengali actress Mimi Chakraborty amazed her fans with her decision to enter politics. The model turned star has contested the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 on a ticket by Trinamool Congress. She contested against CPI(M)’s Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya and BJP’s Anupam Hazra from Kolkata’s Jadavpur Lok Sabha Constituency. The Bengali star earlier told, “I prefer to talk less and work more. There are some people who have been saying I don’t have experience in politics. I want to make it clear if you want to work for people, you don’t really need experience. I have the blessings of Mamata Banerjee to contest the elections,” she told The Telegraph. She first rose to fame with Bengali TV show Gaaner Oparey. Later on, she ventured into the film world in 2012 with Baapi Bari Ja. She was questioned about her inexperience in the field of politics and that caused stir amid her followers. However, she opined that experience did not matter over work. Recently, she attracted flak from the trolls for wishing fans on the occasion of Ramzan.
