Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding has got the whole world glued to the internet. From Meghan’s bridal gown to their carriage procession, everything has been getting discussed. The most interesting part of this event is the wedding vows. Meghan will follow her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s footsteps regarding tis ritual. It has been officially confirmed that she will delete the word ‘obey’ from her vows. The traditional vow stated that the bride should obey the groom. After princess Diana chose to not stick to this orthodox vow, Meghan too has decided to follow the same.
While the original vow states, “I, [name], take thee, [name], to my wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love, cherish, and to obey, till death us do part, according to God’s holy ordinance; and thereto I give thee my troth.” The new version will be read like, ‘"for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God’s holy ordinance; and thereto I give thee my troth.’
The Suits actress has always been vocal being feminist and she even pointed out that Prince Harry is a feminist too. The vows will have a revision with regards to feminism.
